A blog about Michigan State basketball and tempo-free statistics

A Buckeye perspective

Eleven Warriors has a preview of tomorrow’s game up on their site.  They agree that Ohio State can’t settle for too many three-pointers on offense.

Ohio State’s confidence should be riding high after their victory over Purdue on Tuesday and they will need to parlay that into two victories over Michigan State this week, something they have done only 6 times in the last 26 games of the series.

OSU showed increased offensive activity against Purdue, effectively using the pick and roll, while driving to the hoop instead of relying on the three pointer. This is the formula they have to use if they want any chance at winning next week’s Big Ten tourney or success at whatever post season tournament they play.

It’s a bit of a tough position for Ohio State–likely needing two consecutive wins against MSU to make the NCAA tournament.  That makes tomorrow’s game even more important from a Spartan perspective–better to beat them the first time or the second game essentially becomes an NCAA tournament game for the Buckeyes.
