There’s a third Big Ten team still alive in postseason play. Eleven Warriors has a preview of Ohio State’s NIT quarterfinal match-up tonight (9:00, ESPN2) against in-state rival Dayton. Apparently, Dayton coach Brian Gregory wasn’t allowed to get any help from his former boss in preparing for the Buckeyes. Note also Gregory’s moxie in talking [...]

We interrupt Memphis week to bring you this dispatch from the larger world of college basketball: Yet Another Basketball Blog notes the following: With two teams still alive, the Big Ten has already matched the number of NCAA Tournament wins (5) we’d expect based on their tournament seeds. For the second consecutive year, the ACC [...]

Sweetness!

On to the Sweet Sixteen. Michigan State knocks out Pittsburgh, 65-54. Unofficial box score. Early on, it looked like MSU might come out on the wrong side of some early fouls. Morgan and Naymick both picked up two fouls and had to sit out the rest of the first half. But Neitzel’s 3-point shooting and [...]
Halftime Thoughts

Special edition halftime thoughts: Good to see Neitzel so aggressive. All his 3-point makes were contested. Suton is also playing pretty aggressively and needs to keep it up in the second half. He passed off a couple times when he should have gone toward the hoop. Walton has been a complete liability on offense. Lucas’ [...]
Inside the Hall recaps IU’s loss to Arkansas last night. From what I saw, the Hoosiers played with a bit more intensity–at least on offense–than they’ve shown since Sampson was shown the door. They got the ball more consistently to D.J. White, who finished with 22 points and 9 rebounds. But Gordon continued to struggle, [...]
