Per the Free Press, Delvon Roe has to undergo knee surgery again:
Incoming Michigan State freshman forward Delvon Roe is scheduled to undergo surgery today to eliminate swelling on his left knee. The surgery was scheduled after the swelling was noticed over the summer, but no ligaments were believed to be torn.
The good news is that it’s his left knee–not the right knee he had surgery on last December. It’s unclear exactly how long this will keep him out of action, but it’s hard to believe it won’t affect his ability to play major minutes early in–and perhaps throughout–the upcoming season.
Other reports:
- FoxSports.com’s Jeff Goodman is reporting that an unnamed source says they’re hoping it’ll be “a six-week thing.”
- Joe Rexrode expects Tom Izzo to make a statement later today.
This development further increases the likelihood of Izzo utilizing a smaller lineup quite heavily, at least to start the year.
Poor kid. Stuff like this should happen to the OJ Mayo’s of the world – not people like Delvon Roe.
I just saw this on the LSJ and it was already here. Frick frickity frick. Please, let’s not play another drawn out version of duck-duck-stress fracture.
Has Roe had knee/injury problems chronically through his high school career? I sincerely wish him the best, but I sincerely wonder a bit as well.
I had originally seen the blog post below, via a Google alert, around 11:30. I was hoping the report was erroneous since it had the two knees switched around. Sadly, not.

Delvon Roe’s facebook status message (only know it because one of the nerds over at the RCMB facebook-stalked him):
“what do i do what will i say dont ask y EVERYONE please PRAY for me PLEASE”
Hope for his sake it’s very minor.. poor guy has gone through a lot already…
