I think you’re right about Sims getting a football scholarship. The NCAA has a rule that if you have a basketball scholarship, you can’t play football for your first two years on campus but you can have a football scholarship and play basketball. This is how IU’s James Hardy, who was much more sought after as a basketball recruit ended up with a football scholarship.
