  • MSU likely to delay Peterson jersey ceremony
    Another day.
  • The Nation’s Top 25 Freshmen (So Far)
No love from TAFKATBTW for Delvon Roe, despite rebounding percentages of 14.0% and 20.5% to date.  FT% of 35.7% probably has something to do with that.
  • ESPN swaps announcers and everybody wins
My take on this: It’s proof that ESPN thinks people watch basketball games because of the announcers.  We don’t; we watch them for the basketball.  If anything, the announcers may make us turn off a game.

Roe’s ORtg is below 100, but I don’t think it’s the FT%. Yes, that hurts, but his FT Rate is so dang high that I think it’s probably a wash, or at least close to it. No, I think it’s a bit of an anomaly, and Roe is getting kind of unlikely. Look at his Poss% compared to his Shot%. Is it possible that MSU, for whatever reason, is especially bad at rebounding Roe misses vs. other player misses so far in the season? Might that oddity throw off his ORtg calculation?

I don’t have my Oliver in front of me at the moment, but Roe’s stats struck me as pretty odd. A player that shoots well, tremendous rebounder, non-black hole on offense, with a manageable TO Rate shouldn’t check in with such a low ORtg.

On the announcer switch, wow do they ever! It’s been announced during what seemed like every commercial break every time my wife and I turned on ESPN for the last week and a half.

People who actually like sports are, as many have pointed out, the redheaded step child to ESPN etc. They know they can torment us with insane camera angles, sideline reporters, Dennis Miller, etc. and we’ll still watch.
