I have my drinks ready, and it’s time to cheer for hungry spartans!

Anyone watching Indiana beat the snot out of Iowa? Was a 20-point lead at one point, now 12 with 3:32 to go.

  3. on February 4, 2009 at 8:29 pm Nick

And now down to 6 after a couple of 3s. Hang in there walk-ons!

  4. on February 4, 2009 at 8:33 pm SpartanDan

As soon as I said it, Indiana has done their absolute best to give it away. A couple of missed FTs, offensive rebounds for Iowa, and it’s down to 3.

  5. on February 4, 2009 at 8:38 pm SpartanDan

Indiana hangs on, avoids the ignominy of 0-18.

  6. on February 4, 2009 at 8:40 pm Nick

Summers starts MSU off on the right foot

  7. on February 4, 2009 at 8:42 pm SpartanDan

Our D has been just swarming – multiple steals already and a shot-clock violation after a swat.

  8. on February 4, 2009 at 8:43 pm TMadison

Roe is looking better every game…

    Keep shooting Summers!

  9. on February 4, 2009 at 8:47 pm SpartanDan

Summers is on fire. 11 points before Minnesota makes a basket.

  10. on February 4, 2009 at 8:48 pm Nick

I’m just going to go ahead and send Summers the Valentine I had picked out for my girlfriend

  11. on February 4, 2009 at 8:49 pm SpartanDan

First basket for the Gophers comes six minutes in.

  12. on February 4, 2009 at 8:51 pm SpartanDan

Not liking the foul situation already – we have five as a team.

  13. on February 4, 2009 at 8:53 pm SpartanDan

Stupid foul by Allen. Minnesota went on a quick 6-0 run as soon as Summers went to the bench.

  14. on February 4, 2009 at 8:54 pm TMadison25

Especially the pointless shove from Allen… It sounds cliche, but he seems to completely lose focus for long spells on defense.

  15. on February 4, 2009 at 8:54 pm donaldo

Hopefully whatever Summers has is contagious. Someone else needs to score.

  16. on February 4, 2009 at 9:01 pm SpartanDan

    What a dunk by Summers!

  17. on February 4, 2009 at 9:02 pm Zeke

    Beautiful.

  18. on February 4, 2009 at 9:02 pm donaldo

    I love the Summerstime.

  19. on February 4, 2009 at 9:02 pm SpartanDan

12:30 into the game, the score is:

    Summers 15
    Everyone else for MSU 11
    Minnesota 9

  20. on February 4, 2009 at 9:02 pm TMadison25

    Talent. Talent. Talent.

Truly enjoying watching this team play, especially when their winning.

  21. on February 4, 2009 at 9:05 pm donaldo

They are playing some defense and that’s where all the fun starts.

  22. on February 4, 2009 at 9:09 pm SpartanDan

On a completely unrelated note, Wake is down 20 against Miami with seven minutes to play.

  23. on February 4, 2009 at 9:10 pm SpartanDan

Minnesota cracks double digits 15:19 into the game. This might be the greatest defensive performance I’ve seen by an MSU team in ages.

  24. on February 4, 2009 at 9:12 pm donaldo

This is the potential we have all known existed with this team. It is time to bottle that effort.

  25. on February 4, 2009 at 9:15 pm TMadison25

The combination of health and aggressiveness taking stride late in the Big Ten season would be a thing of beauty.

Double-digit scoring for Chris Allen this game could be proof of a resurgence.

Wake has been stumbling since the UNC and Duke wins.

  26. on February 4, 2009 at 9:15 pm donaldo

No second half letdown. Send the message – this is our house.

  27. on February 4, 2009 at 9:20 pm TMadison25

kj may get to see a lot of Thornton.

  28. on February 4, 2009 at 9:21 pm TMadison25

Great point… They look hungry for more and more. I hate seeing them let up after a solid lead.

    How about some Dahlman, Izzo?

  29. on February 4, 2009 at 9:30 pm Spartan Sports Page

Can Dahlman play with the crutches?

  30. on February 4, 2009 at 9:31 pm SpartanDan

    Halftime stats:
    eFG%: Minnesota 18.2%, MSU 65.5%
    OR%: Minnesota 31.3%, MSU 58.3%
    TO%: 31.3%, MSU 25%
    FTA/FGA: Minnesota .455, MSU .172

  31. on February 4, 2009 at 9:35 pm TMadison25

lol, right… Can we still put him in?

18% eFG… lock-down. Keep up the aggressive play.

  32. on February 4, 2009 at 9:43 pm donaldo

We’ve even scored on 3 inbounds plays without throwing it into the backcourt.

  33. on February 4, 2009 at 9:44 pm TMadison25

    This defense is relentless.

  34. on February 4, 2009 at 9:50 pm SpartanDan

What is there to say about this? First TV timeout of the second half, and Minnesota still hasn’t reached 20. Granted, that’s partly because they’re missing the few easy shots they are getting, but still … wow.

  35. on February 4, 2009 at 9:54 pm donaldo

Roe is showing some assertiveness on offense. Great to see.

  36. on February 4, 2009 at 9:58 pm SpartanDan

Minnesota finally hits 20 … with a little under 13 minutes to go.

  37. on February 4, 2009 at 10:00 pm donaldo

Everyone will sleep a little better tonight.

  38. on February 4, 2009 at 10:02 pm Andrew

If someone can get a screen grab of the interview with Dantonio, that would be really appreciated.

  39. on February 4, 2009 at 10:35 pm TMadison25

That late shot-clock triple by Lucious was impressive. He shot one of those against Northwestern. Clean shot.

  40. on February 4, 2009 at 10:53 pm MooTheKow

That was a fun game. :-)
