Loyal reader (and German resident) Matt LeMeiux was kind enough to send along this update on the current exploits of Drew Netizel: Greeting from Deutschland, It has been an interesting month for Drew and his team. While Drew’s minutes have increased and he has finally broken into the starting five, the team has been struggling [...]

I recently received two e-mails from readers that I thought were worth passing along. First, Mblemieux provides a status report on the beginning of Drew Neitzel’s professional career in Germany: The Basketball Bundesliga began recently and Neitzel played in both of the Artland Dragons loses. Against Alba Berlin, Drew had nine points in 20 minutes. [...]

Drew Neitzel has signed with the Artlund Dragons of Germany’s Basketball Bundesliga (I’m a casual international soccer fan–which I know sounds like any oxymoron. Anyway, I love saying the word “Bundesliga.” Bundesliga. Bundesliga. Bundesliga.) Apparently, the move was made to ensure some guaranteed money and playing time in a competitive league, as European teams tend [...]

Drew Neitzel’s numbers in the Timberwolves’ final two summer league games: Saturday: 6 points on 3-9 shooting, zero assists, and 2 turnovers in 20 minutes of an 81-67 loss. Sunday: 14 points on 6-11 shooting, 3 assists, and 1 turnover in 18 minutes of a 111-91 win. At least Neitzel finished with a strong showing. [...]

Another disappointing stat line for Neitzel: 2 points, zero assists, 2 turnovers. The Timberwolves did finally win a game. Michael Jordan’s son, Marcus, is interested in being a Spartan. He’s 6’2″ and currently rated a 3-start prospect in the 2009 class. Ohio State gets a transfer of the 7-foot variety from UAB. Luke Winn predicts [...]

Thursday Links Good news for those of us that will be driving down to the MSU-UNC game at Ford Field after work on Wednesday, December 3: The start time is 9:15, so we’ll have extra time to get down there. The game will be broadcast on ESPN. The other top-notch match-up is Duke-Purdue. That game [...]

There was a little discussion in the comments section of the last post as to whether Neitzel belongs up there on the new banner with Magic, Skiles, Smith, Respert, and Cleaves. The first five guys are no brainers: Magic Johnson was the driving force behind MSU’s first national title. Despite playing only two years at [...]
Neitzel feeds himself to Wolves

Drew Neitzel will play for the Timberwolves’ summer league team next month in hopes of making the Minnesota roster. I’m not up to speed on the nuances of the NBA contract system, but I assume the fact he hasn’t actually signed a free-agent contract with the team isn’t a positive sign for whether the Wolves [...]
Neitzel goes undrafted

For anyone who hasn’t taken the time to scour the draft list from last night, Drew Neitzel went undrafted. As noted by Joe Rexrode (and previously asserted here), this may be for the best, as Neitzel will be able to find the best fit for an NBA team to try out for over the summer. [...]
